Greeting Cards and Announcement Cards

While greeting cards and announcement cards are very similar media, they are not identical in form. Greeting cards fold into separate parts, while announcement cards are flat. To some extent, the choice of one or the other is often subjective. Some of our customers like the formality of a folding greeting card to send congratulations, birth announcements, event dates, and wedding invites. Other people feel that a simple, flat card is a better background for an important thought because it draws attention to the message and not itself.
Like we said, much of this is up to you. However, there are some occasions where we would recommend greeting cards over announcement cards. Any even that involves some sort of mailout, such as a gift card, coupon, or rebate code, is better met with a greeting card than an announcement card. Because greeting cards are scored down the middle and folded, the card stock on one side can be cut into small slits that will act as card holders for the gift card. We do not recommend using announcement cards in this way because there is no way to keep cards in these slots without some sort of enclosing cover.

We also have 6.5 X 6.5 square blank cards and envelops as well. Additionally, we can print your greeting or announcement cards on a variety of 100 lb. paper weight and paper points. Paper weight refers to the weight of 500 sheets of a specific type of paper. Paper points refer to the thickness of card stock as measured in millimeters. Catdi Printing also offers a number of coating and laminating options that allow you enhance the message with an excited, glossy appeal or flatten it against the stock to lend a certain sense of gravitas to the message.
